Ranger’s blog yesterday (Oct.28th)

It was a rainy day today. Despite of such an overcast day the park received uncommon guest and regular ducks were busy for feeding.

A Common Buzzard on a tree beyond East Freshwater Pond has been seen from East Observation Blind in a distant view.  Under a mizzle, the bird stayed on the tree for a while.

In “Shio-iri” Pond, at the water between Observation Hut 1 and Water Gate (North) roughly 30 Pochards and Tufted Ducks eagerly and repeatedly dived into water.  They seemed to feed Small Brown Mussels Xenostrobus secures  the most common mussel in the pond.

In the afternoon two Greenshanks and a Dunlin flew into “Shio-iri” Pond.
The photos below show 3 sandpipers beside a Little Egret.   The Dunlin once visited the area in huge flocks was alone today.  While Greenshanks stayed put in resting it was actively foraging.
